Obituary for Glenn E Mullins

Glenn Edward Mullins, 86, passed away peacefully October 31, 2018, with his wife and daughter by his side.
A Celebration of Glenn’s life will be held Monday, November 5, 2018, at the First Baptist Church Chapel in Starkville, MS. Visitation is scheduled for 3:00 pm with the Service immediately following at 4:00 pm.
Glenn’s desire was to be cremated and have his ashes, along with the ashes of his beloved Pekingese, Prissy, spread over the family land he so dearly loved.
Mr. Mullins was born December 17, 1931, in West Point, MS. He was a graduate of Starkville High School and Mississippi State University where he received a degree in Banking and Finance. Glenn served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and later retired with 21 years in the Army National Guard. He owned and operated Mullins & Sons, a men’s clothing store in Starkville for 21 years. Glenn was the President of Starkville’s Bank of Mississippi (now BancorpSouth) at the time of his retirement in 1996.
Mr. Mullins, served as President of the Starkville Chamber of Commerce, as well as, the Director of the Starkville Rotary Club. Glenn was a member of the Advisory Board of the College of Business and Industry’s Banking Excellence Program and on the Board for the Golden Triangle’s Crime Stoppers. Mr. Mullins served on the Board of First Federal Savings and Loan and was an Oktibbeha County Hospital Board Trustee.
Glenn was a much-loved husband, father and grandfather. He was lovingly known as “Popa,” to many people. He enjoyed hunting, spending time with friends at “Moon Valley Deer Camp,” fishing, playing golf and spending time with his family – especially his beloved, Ally.
Mr. Mullins was predeceased by his parents, L. L. and Margie Mullins and by his brother, Sonny Mullins. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Jackson Mullins, his daughter Glenda Mullins Walker (Earl), his granddaughter Ally Walker and his loyal canine companion “Mollie.”
